Raleigh Home Inspector Can’t Hardly Wait – The 2010 North Carolina State Fair

It’s almost that time again….and this Raleigh Home Inspector can’t hardly wait! The 2010 NC State Fair is coming…..the countdown clock is ticking….

2010 NC State Fair

Raleigh Home Inspector Loves the Fair!

It’s an annual “happenin’” for myself and my family…deep fried Oreos, roasted corn, eclairs to die for, and simply the best dang London Broil sammiches on the planet…that’s what I’m talkin’ about! This year, I hear they’re going to have Chocolate Covered Bacon; I’m not sure I know what that’s all about…we’ll have to take a “wait and see” attitude on that one!

Of course, the livestock exhibitions are always interesting…and there are always the pig races. Being a geek for things related to homes, construction, and things related to the trades, there is always the brick-laying and electrical wiring apprentice competitions…..and those guys do some really good work!

You might want to consider attending on a day that, by default, will benefit others….There is a Military Appreciation Day, Senior Day, and the Food Lion Hunger Relief Day…..

Get on out to the North Carolina State fairgrounds for the quintessential North Carolina event that appeals to the masses. The fair runs for a full ten days…opening on October 14 and closing on October 24…. Go HERE for general info and schedules of events.

As a Raleigh Home Inspection firm, when our office telephone rings, one of the first questions we are asked is “How much does a Home Inspection cost?”. And while this is a very fair question, we suggest that a more appropriate question might be “How much is a Home Inspection worth?”. In this Episode 002 of our InspectBits podcast series, we examine that issue.

Thank You so much for your time in viewing our video……know that we appreciate you. Please take one more moment and leave us a comment….we look forward to hearing from you.

Melted Vinyl Siding – InspectBits Podcast Episode 001

While performing Home Inspections in the Raleigh, NC area, we sometimes find issues that are……unique. That is to say that some issues are not your “run-of-the-mill” issues that we find during a majority of inspections. InspectBits Episode 001 addresses one of those issues. Reflected energy is reflected heat and when that heat is reflected onto the vinyl siding wall cladding of a home, the vinyl siding can suffer warping and deformation as a result.

We hope that you have found this video informative……come back and visit us often. And do please leave us a comment…….we do appreciate them.

Here It Is, Finally…InspectBits Podcast Episode 000

Welcome…….

Its been awhile coming but here we are……presenting Episode 000 of our InspectBits podcast series. The time between the idea and the inception was pretty much a product of my having to learn most every “nook and cranny” detail about video production, file structures, codecs, etc., etc., and etc………But now that we’re here, maybe we can keep the momentum going. As you will learn, what we are trying to do is provide some relevant, helpful information about homes, Home Inspections, and some of the things we see on a routine basis. We see allot of different things during any particular Raleigh Home Inspection……and many of those things are interesting… to us anyway… and we hope that you find them interesting as well.

We at Quality Residential Inspections welcome you….. and hope you perceive some value from our little production.

Oh, and right here in the beginning, I want to throw out a heap of appreciation and thanks to Chris Kim for all of his assistance with InspectBits.

If you have any thoughts or comments, then please do share……let us know what you think!

Exterior wall penetrations need to be sealed to keep the water out!

A most common condition that we find during a Home Inspection, is that exterior wall penetrations haven’t been sealed against water entry. At locations where various appurtenances e.g. water piping, electrical wiring or conduit, gas piping, etc. pass through the wall, the gap around the material needs to be caulk-sealed. It may not be the most important, or the most harmful of condition we find, but it certainly can be harmful and it has the potential to cause water-related damage to the home; if it has already caused any such damage, then it is obviously an important issue. Usually, the corrective action is simple and inexpensive to implement. And, whenever we see these types of deficiencies, it makes us look just a little bit closer for other related issues. So be sure that all exterior wall penetration are well-sealed to keep the water out!
